Who loves Robins? A blog by Jamie Briggeman

Writer's picture: thebriggemansartthebriggemansart

This is my first blog, so please bear with me. I felt that this piece was a good place to start. This is a watercolor painting I did earlier this year of a robin in a bird bath, doing what robin's do best..play in the water. I wanted to paint this cutie because I feel like robin's do not get the same love as other more colorful birds. I love to watch them be-bop around my backyard as I run my sprinkler in hopes of keeping my grass as green as possible. The moment the water flies through the air, it is like a beacon is sent out to this particularly playful and hungry bird that knows exactly where the worms are hiding in the softened soil. I used Grumbacher watercolor paints on a 12 x 16 piece of Arches 140 lb cold press watercolor paper. This is probably my third bird that I have painted, and I thought it turned out pretty adorable. If you like these little funny creatures as well, feel free to comment or share your favorite paintings or photos of this species. I would love to hear your thoughts on the piece as well. You can find this original painting or prints of this piece on my website. www.thebriggemansart.com/store
